Half Moon Run is a Canadian indie rock band from Montreal .
history
Half Moon Run was founded in 2010 in Montreal , Canada. Dylan Phillips and Conner Molander grew up on Vancouver Island and knew each other at a young age. They later moved to Montreal together, where they made music together. Devon Portielje, who had moved from Ottawa to Montreal, joined a wanted advertisement. In the jam sessions that followed, the band grew together and released their debut album Dark Eyes on March 27, 2012 , which was released on the Indica Records label. The singles Full Circle , Call Me in the Afternoon and She Wants to Know were released in 2012, 2013 and 2014. This was followed by a tour of Europe , Australia and North America .
On August 7, 2015, Half Moon Run announced that their second album, Sun Leads Me On , would be released. With the announcement, the first single Trust of the new album was released. After the second single Turn Your Love , their second album Sun Leads Me On was finally released on October 23, 2015 , which reached number 4 in the Canadian and number 46 in the English charts. Another tour through Europe and North America followed in 2016.
Almost four years passed before Half Moon Run announced their third album. A Blemish In The Great Light will be out on November 1st, 2019, singer Dylan Philipps says: " The album still has the sound that people expect from us, but with a few new elements." The band released the singles Then Again , Flesh And Blood and Favorite Boy beforehand.
In July 2020, Half Moon Run released the EP Seasons of Change. The six songs on the EP were created during the recording of A Blemish In The Great Light , but were deliberately separated from them and only now released, according to Devon Portielje.
