Halicreas minimum is a jellyfish - kind from the family of Halicreatidae and the only species of its genus .

features

Halicreas minimum has a diameter of 30 to 40 millimeters and a wide annular canal as well as eight broad, ribbon-shaped radial canals, which are covered by the flattened gonads for almost their entire length . The up to 64 edge tentacles are in a continuous row. In each octant (the eight body sections) there are three to four statocysts as equilibrium organs .

The screen consists of a thick gelatinous layer, is disc-shaped and elongated at the tip to form a conical extension that is variable in size. Above the edge, the screen is covered in each octant with a group of gelatinous warts (papillae). The mouth is a wide, circular opening.

Halicreas minimum can be found in all oceans, preferably in warmer waters.
