Halima Krausen (* 1949 in Aachen ) is a Muslim theologian who is involved in interreligious dialogue.

Krausen comes from a mixed-denominational Christian family and converted to Islam as a teenager . She also took the first name Halima. At that time there were still few German-speaking Muslims; Krausen turned to the Imam Ali Mosque in Hamburg , where she was trained as a theologian. She studied theology in several Islamic countries.

From 1984 to 1988 she worked on a German translation of the Koran. In 1996, as the successor to Imam Mehdi Razvi, she became head of the German-speaking Muslim community in Hamburg; she held the office of imamim until 2014. She also has Shaykha status .

By his own admission, Krausen does not advocate a feminist approach to Koran exegesis . She wants to lead by consensus and not cause a crack ( fitnah ) in the community; therefore she wrote down her Friday sermons instead of preaching in the mosque, which would have been possible but was not undisputed in the community.

Halima Krausen is visiting scholar at the Academy of World Religions at the University of Hamburg . She is a board member in the Bendorfer Forum .
