The Bendorfer Forum for Ecumenical Encounters and Interreligious Dialogue eV (short: Bendorfer Forum) is a registered association that advocates meeting and educational work with people from different religions and cultures. This idea has its origin in the Hedwig-Dransfeld -Haus in Bendorf am Rhein . The Bendorfer Forum was founded in March 2004 in order to preserve and develop the wealth of experience gained there after the Hedwig-Dransfeld-Haus was closed. In the spirit of Bendorf , various conferences with an ecumenical, interreligious and intercultural focus are now being held nationwide. The Bendorfer Forum cooperates with numerous educational institutions in the Federal Republic. The Bendorfer Forum is a member of the Coordination Council for the Christian-Islamic Dialogue .

history

The Hedwig-Dransfeld-Haus was founded in 1925 by the Catholic German Women's Association in Bendorf and named after its second chairwoman, Hedwig Dransfeld. She entered the Reichstag in 1919 as one of the first women . After the Second World War , the house developed into a place of encounter and reconciliation, of ecumenical and interreligious dialogue for people from all over the world. Since the late 1960s, people of the Jewish, Christian and Muslim faith have met in Bendorf for meetings and conferences. The Jewish-Christian Bible Week (now in Haus Ohrbeck in Georgsmarienhütte near Osnabrück ), the International Conference on the Dialogue of Jews, Christians and Muslims (JCM) in Europe (now in Vallendar ) and the Christian-Islamic conference on Pentecost (now in Nordwalde ) take place every year to this day.

concept

The association has set itself the goal of opening rooms in which people of different faiths can get to know the other religious communities in direct encounter . Religious celebrations and prayers take place separately according to religion , but with an open door for believers of other religions. Theological knowledge and scientific reflection play a role as well as personal experiences, which have consequences for the everyday life of the participants. Religious, intellectual and creative forms of expression complement each other. The conferences are prepared, carried out and evaluated by interreligious teams.
