Haliplus immaculatus is a beetle from the family of water treaders (Haliplidae).

features

The beetles reach a body length of 3 millimeters. Their body is elongated oval and rusty yellow to rusty red in color. The wings are broadest behind the shoulders, but gradually tapered towards the rear. They have black stripes on the rows of dots that are not interrupted. These stripes are seldom widened and flow into one another, there are no horizontal flaws. The wings of the male and female are shiny and not shagreened. The prosternal process between the hips of the forelegs is furrowed.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is widespread in northern, central and eastern Europe. It is more common in Central Europe in the north and east than in the west and south. The animals live in clean, stagnant and slowly flowing waters.
