Haliplus is a genus of beetles from the family of water treaders (Haliplidae). There are 30 species in Europe, 18 of them in Central Europe.
features
The beetles look very similar to those of the genus Peltodytes . Your body is elliptical, boat-shaped and have a trapezoidal, tapered forward pronotum , which is basal on breitesten. Short basal lines may or may not be present. The wings are egg-shaped and have point stripes, but they lack the sutural stripe on the back half of the wings, near the wing cover seam . This seam is usually pointed at the back. The males have slightly expanded tarsi on the front legs.
Occurrence and way of life
Like those of the genus Peltodytes, the animals live on aquatic plants in clean, stagnant or slowly flowing waters.
