Haliplus fulvicollis is a beetle from the family of water treaders (Haliplidae).

features

The beetles reach a body length of 2.3 to 2.6 millimeters and are rust-red or brown-red in color. The pronotum has an incised longitudinal line on both sides of the center. These lines are short, straight, run parallel to the side edge and do not reach the middle of the pronotum. The fine row of dots next to the blackish wing cover seam is just as strong as the other fine rows of dots. The antennae , the pronotum and the legs are yellow, the wing covers are provided with several blackish transverse spots. The drawing corresponds to that of Haliplus variegatus

Occurrence and way of life

The species is widespread in Northern and Central Europe as well as on the Balkan Peninsula. It is widespread in Central Europe, but rarely to very rarely. The animals prefer to live in waters with a bog underground.
