Wilhelm Ferdinand Erichson
Wilhelm Ferdinand Erichson (born November 26, 1809 in Stralsund , † December 18, 1848 in Berlin ) was a German entomologist .
Erichson had studied medicine and surgery and graduated in 1832, in 1837 he became a doctor of philosophy. His real passion, however, was entomology and wrote a lot of treatises and books that influenced the development of this subject. From 1834 to 1848 he was the curator of the Beetle Collection in the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin. In 1834 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
He is the first to describe the genus Leptacinus Erichson in 1839
Wilhelm Ferdinand Erichson died on December 18, 1848 in Berlin.
