history

The building at Hamburger Straße 267 is a former industrial building that was taken over by the city of Braunschweig and has been used as a municipal exhibition hall since 2014. It was called the exhibition hall at Hamburger Strasse 267 . There were individual art exhibitions and special exhibitions of the Natural History Museum Braunschweig.

In order to partially cover the great need for suitable exhibition spaces for artists in Braunschweig, it was decided in 2017 to change the concept of the exhibition hall to a pure art hall.

With the solo exhibition "Großer Lurf 1" by the Braunschweig artist Hanna Nitsch , Halle267 was officially opened on January 25, 2018 with the participation of the Braunschweig Head of Culture and Science Anja Hesse and was given a new name. In 2018, the Städtische Galerie is initially to be operated in a pilot phase and will go into regular operation from 2019. All exhibition periods for the current year were already allocated at the beginning of 2018.
