Hanna Nitsch

Hanna Nitsch (born March 11, 1974 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German artist . She is best known for her large-format ink paintings on paper and her photo series .

biography

Nitsch grew up in a village in the Black Forest . She studied philosophy and German and finally fine art with Peter Dreher and Silvia Bächli at the State University of Design in Karlsruhe and with Klaus Stümpel at the University of Fine Arts Braunschweig . In 2003 she was accepted into the Cusanuswerk 's scholarship program and finished her studies in 2007 with the master class scholarship and the Max Ernst scholarship from the city of Brühl (Rhineland) . In 2009 she received the Nordwestkunst Award from the Verein der Kunstfreunde für Wilhelmshaven e. V.

In 2020 she was awarded the art prize of the SPD - Lower Saxony parliamentary group . In her artistic work, she questions conceptually and painterly stereotypical notions of role models , gender roles , identity and sexuality .

Nitsch lives with her family in Braunschweig .
