The Hallesche Verlag was founded in 1993 in Halle (Saale) by Manfred Schwarz.

The publishing house is primarily concerned with new editions of scientific-historical texts and documents from the Enlightenment and Romantic periods and the publication of works by younger scientists. These include a series of publications on intellectual and cultural history, academic studies and lectures, as well as dissertations.

Published subject groups are intellectual and cultural history, pietistic enlightenment of the 17th and 18th centuries, academic studies and lectures, the Middle Ages, philosophy, natural science and historical documents of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The publisher is a member of the German Book Trade Association .
