Halley is an impact crater south of the giant crater Hipparchus , the southern outer wall of which it touches. The large Albategnius crater is visible to the southwest and Hind is located to the east .
Halley's crater rim is worn and an indentation in the lunar surface crosses its western area. This valley runs in a south-southeast direction to the edge of Albategnius. The crater floor is relatively flat.
