The Taubenheim (Spree) stop is an operating point on the Oberoderwitz – Wilthen railway line in the Taubenheim / Spree area in Saxony. Until 1945 Taubenheim (Spree) was a connecting station to the Taubenheim – Dürrhennersdorf narrow-gauge railway that began here , of which some relics have still been preserved.

history

Entrance building, narrow gauge side

The station was built around 1875 with the opening of the Oberoderwitz – Wilthen railway line as a station with three tracks, of which there was a loading track, a center track and the station track on the house platform . Old photographs prove this. In 1892 the Taubenheim – Dürrhennersdorf narrow-gauge railway was added. The narrow-gauge line included four tracks in the station area. The station also had a double-track locomotive shed, a goods shed and a trolley pit , later a ramp for trolley traffic and a goods shed on the narrow-gauge side and two loading ramps on the standard-gauge side.

In 1945 the narrow-gauge tracks were dismantled. The locomotive shed and the goods shed on the narrow-gauge side remained. Some residential buildings on the street An der Kleinbahn , which undoubtedly date from the Kleinbahn era, have also been preserved. It is unclear when the standard gauge side was dismantled to the current state as on the plan. The station has been a stop since December 1, 1978, and trains only stop here when required.

Engine shed Taubenheim

Preserved well for supplying the locomotives in Taubenheim station

The locomotive shed was used to house and repair the locomotives used on the Taubenheim – Dürrhennersdorf narrow-gauge railway. Originally, these were locomotives of the IK series , which operated here until 1927. Class IV K locomotives ran later . The Saxon III K and Saxon VK can also be used, the literature only names the first two series. After 1945 the locomotive shed initially stood still, after 1989 its further use was considered. Ultimately, it was demolished in 2002.

The goods shed is used by an external company. The narrow gauge area of the station is part of the route around Taubenheim . It is not known when the standard gauge section was dismantled to the current state of a stop .

In 2016, the appearance of the unused reception building was upgraded by a local association with a new coat of paint.
