Hamburg Chamber Art Association

The Hamburger Kammerkunstverein e. V. is an association of Hamburg musicians, singers and actors. It was founded on June 17, 1999. In the early years after its establishment, the association resided in a listed merchant's house on Deichstrasse, one of the oldest streets in Hamburg. The house provided space for rehearsals, an office, a guest café and overnight accommodation for musicians. In the years 2000/01 150 chamber concerts, readings and celebrations took place there. After the house was sold, the association had various rehearsal rooms in Hamburg. Since October 2010, the club's headquarters have been an old railway building in Hamburg's Oberhafen.

The association has set itself the task of finding new forms of performance for chamber music and song singing . He places particular emphasis on interdisciplinary projects and unusual locations that appeal to new audiences. It organizes around 50 events in and around Hamburg every year.

The artists of the Hamburger Kammerkunstverein come from various orchestras and ensembles . The strings are part leaders of the Ensemble Resonanz , the winds come from various Hamburg and Berlin orchestras, including the Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin , the Ensemble Mosaik and the Ensemble Modern . The pianist and artistic director of the ensemble is Franck-Thomas Link .

The Hamburger Kammerkunstverein realized various projects that received funding and recognition through foundations and the Hamburg cultural authority and cooperated in concert series with partners such as the Hamburg State Opera , the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce . Since 2009 he has also been the organizer of the concerts in the Bürgersaal Wandsbek.

In more than 700 events, the Hamburg Chamber Art Association has become a competence center for chamber music, song singing and small theater forms.
