The Hamilton Watch Company was an American watch manufacturer.

The Hamilton Watch Company was in 1892 in Lancaster ( Pennsylvania founded). It emerged from the Adams & Perry Watch Company, founded in 1874 . In 1927, Hamilton bought the Illinois Watch Company . In 1941 the company developed the marine chronometer model 21 and the precision observation watch model 22. This made Hamilton the most important American chronometer manufacturer.

From 1955 to 1960 the company " Vereinigte Uhrenfabriken Ersingen " worked together with the Hamilton Watch Company under the new owner Helmut Epperlein. Through this cooperation, Hamilton was able to take advantage of Epperlein's developments and, on January 3, 1957, launched the first electrically powered wristwatch with a balance , the "Electric". The “Electric” movement had an elongated coil on the balance wheel and a magnet system with three magnets. This Epperlein invention is documented as a German utility model 1,842,778 (filing date January 28, 1958) and was transferred to the Hamilton Watch Company, Lancester, on September 21, 1959.

In 1966, Hamilton bought the Büren Watch Company . In 1970 the company brought the first electronic quartz watch with a digital LED display onto the market - the "Pulsar" model.

In 1972 watch production was stopped. The Hamilton brand was acquired by the Swiss holding company SSIH.

The brand is now part of the Swatch Group . In 2009 they presented three special editions of the "Ventura", which was worn by Elvis Presley in the film Blue Hawaii, under the name Hamilton .
