Hammered is an Italian speed metal band from Gorizia , which was founded in 2001 under the name Trauma .

history

The band was founded in 2001 by guitarists Luca Cicuttin and Andrea Grasso under the name Trauma. A short time later the line-up was supplemented by the bassist Mario Manganelli, the drummer Marco Cicuttin and the singer András Császár, while the band name was changed to Hammered. In 2006 a demo was recorded under the name 2010 ... Live The Terror . In 2009 Luca and his brother Marco Cicuttin left the cast to devote themselves to their studies. In the same year Alfredo Macuz was added as a new drummer. The band then went into the studio to record another demo, of which the song Unexpected Consequence was used for the sampler Kill City 18 of the Californian label 272 Records . In 2011 and 2012 the debut album The Beginning was recorded. After the recordings, Mario Manganelli left the line-up to devote himself to his other band, whereupon Piero Macuz joined Hammered. At the same time the guitarist Adriano Crasnich was added. In November 2012, the band signed a recording deal with Punishment 18 Records . The album was released about this in 2013.

Extreminal.com's BattlePig described The Beginning as speed metal with screaming guitar solos and vocals typical of the genre that seem like it came from the 1980s. The speed is mostly in the middle range. symX from stormbringer.at also reviewed the album and classified it as Speed ​​Metal. The singing sounds androgynous , is performed with a " theatrical melodrama " and sounds "coming straight from the depths of an amateur theater". James Bushnell from metal-observer.com arranged the group a little differently and described the music in his album review as heavy metal with slight speed metal influences. Assignment to Power Metal or Thrash Metal as well as comparisons to Iron Maiden or early Metallica did not apply to him very much or not at all. The music was hardly memorable for him, whereby no element stood out particularly. Salvador Aguinaga II from metal-temple.com described the music as melodic Thrash Metal with influences from speed and heavy metal. He heard similarities to Iron Maiden, Metallica, but also Tool . Steve Muench from Powermetal.de saw it a little differently. For him, the band could not be assigned to speed, thrash or heavy metal, but most likely to power metal. The songs are a bit technically demanding and have a certain dynamic.
