Han tomb in Yangjiawan
In the Han grave in Yangjiawan (Yángjiāwān Hànmù杨家湾汉墓Han Tomb in Yangjiawan) in the Chinese province of Shaanxi , near the grave system of the first Han -Kaisers Gaodi it is actually two large graves from the time of Emperor Wen and Jing of the Western Han Dynasty . It is believed to be the tomb of Zhou Bo and his son Zhou Yafu, both high-ranking military officials. Yangjiawan Village is located in northeast Xianyang . The grave complex was excavated from 1970 to 1976.
Terracotta Army
In 1965, a clay army of more than 3,000 soldiers and horses was discovered near one of the graves. A total of 2,549 terracotta figures were excavated, of which 583 were cavalry , 1,965 infantry , as well as musicians and a commander. The horse figures appear particularly lively.
The finds are now housed in the Xianyang Museum ( Xianyang bowuguan ).
