Han Jiawei

Han Jiawei ( Chinese  韩 家 炜 , Pinyin Hán Jiāwěi ; born August 11, 1949 in Shanghai ) is a Chinese computer scientist.

Han studied computer science at the University of Wisconsin with a PhD in 1985. He was a professor at Simon Fraser University and is a professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign , where he is Abel Bliss Professor .

He is known for research on large database systems and especially data mining (in multimedia data, biological data, streaming media, data in social networks, on the Internet and RFID data).

In 2009 he received the W. Wallace McDowell Award . He is a Fellow of the IEEE (1996) and the Association for Computing Machinery .
