Hana Gaddafi

Hana Gaddafi ( Arabic هناء القذافي, DMG Hanāʾ al-Qaḏḏāfī ; * November 11, 1985 ) is a Libyan doctor and adopted daughter of the former Libyan dictator Muammar al-Gaddafi and his second wife Safaja Farkash .

Their existence was first revealed in 1986 when their alleged death was announced following Operation El Dorado Canyon . An American journalist said she saw the body of a toddler during a tour of the ruins of the attack.

In 1999 the Chinese news agency Xinhua reported that Muammar al-Gaddafi and his daughter Hana had visited the former South African President Nelson Mandela . In 2003, Hana Gaddafi traveled to London to do some shopping. In 2007 she completed an English course from the British Council in its Libyan office.

After the Libyan revolution , an Irish journalist found a certificate in the palace complex of Bab al-Aziziya confirming that Gaddafi had studied medicine. Until 2011, Hana Gaddafi held a leading position in the Libyan healthcare system.

The 2006 Hana Festival for Peace and Freedom was held on the 20th anniversary of her alleged death .
