Handicraft, housekeeping and gymnastics , or HHT for short, was an earlier training area for teachers in Baden-Württemberg .

HHT teachers received the qualification to teach handicrafts , housekeeping and gymnastics at elementary , secondary , secondary and special schools . The training took place at so-called housekeeping seminars until the mid-1970s. In the meantime, the HHT teacher training course has been replaced by gender-neutral training as a specialist teacher for music-technical subjects at the pedagogical specialist seminars, or by the teaching degree at the pedagogical universities . The technical terms today are Textile Werken at elementary schools, Housekeeping / Textiles Werken (HTW for short) at secondary and special schools. At the beginning of the school year 1994/95, the new subject “People and the Environment” (MUM for short) emerged from the HTW in Baden-Württemberg high schools. Sport is today's technical term for gymnastics for all types of schools. Teachers who have completed the training course manual labor, housekeeping and gymnastics are still referred to as HHT teachers today, but teach at the respective school types in the subjects mentioned with today's, modern specialist designation. After the end of the apprenticeship and preparatory service, employment usually took place as the main teacher HHT and, after promotion, as the senior teacher HHT.

In most other German federal states, too, pupils are taught housekeeping and textile works at general schools. However, the designation HHT teacher and the corresponding training course in handicrafts (today textiles) and housekeeping in a fixed combination with gymnastics (today sport) was specific to Baden-Württemberg. In addition, in some federal states the content of lessons in housekeeping / textile works is often part of the subject of work studies (which does not exist in this form in Baden-Württemberg). Designations such as: Hauswirtschaft, Fachpraxis Hauswirtschaft, Textile Gestalten and textile work are also used in other federal states.
