Ten teams are represented in the second highest division, the HBA. The championship is divided into several phases. In the main round, all teams play a simple round trip against each opponent. After that, the league is divided into two groups.
The first five teams play in another round-trip round to make it to the HBA semi-finals. The last five teams play against relegation, with the last two teams of the placement round playing a best-of-three series to stay up. The placement round is also played in a round trip.
