Handball Emmen (merger of ATVE Handballriege and HC Emmenstrand members) is a handball club from the Swiss municipality of Emmen , Canton Lucerne .

history

1966 - TV Emmenstrand

The newly founded handball team of the gymnastics club Emmenstrand starts its first season in the third division. After six years you were already playing in the first division.

1985 - Emmenstrand handball club

The handball team broke away from the parent club in 1985 and founded the handball club Emmenstrand . At that time, the name TV Emmenstrand was known in the Swiss handball scene, so the new club had no difficulty getting noticed. The teams could also continue to play in the league for which they had qualified under the name TV Emmenstrand. Seen in this light, not much happened apart from a correction of the name. For the first couple of years, the HCE was a so-called lift team, commuting back and forth between the NLB and the NLA. This was followed by the most successful period of this club. You could assert yourself for several years in the NLA, and the promotion of young talent was not neglected, after all, the A-Inter juniors became Swiss champions twice in a row and formed the backbone of the Swiss junior national team. In this euphoria, the club wanted to make it big and invested heavily in the first team. But more than fourth place was not possible and a year later the HCE was relegated to the NLB with almost the same team, although the goal was actually a European Cup qualifying rank.

In the meantime they managed to get promoted back to the NLA. This rise turned out to be a flash in the pan and one rose from the NLA to the NLB in the 1 league. During this time, the A-Inter team was relegated to the next class and the C and B juniors did not make it to the Inter-class. In addition to many coach changes, there were one or two changes on the board as well as in the presidium until no president could be found. The two years without a president, the association was led by the vice-presidents, who above all had to get the finances back on track, as the 'extravaganzas' of the previous period had turned these threatening situations into reality.

During this time the HCE managed to establish itself as a good first division team and, to the surprise of many, they soon reached the door of the NLB again. After a failed first attempt, the second was more successful and HC Emmenstrand said hello again from the NLB. But after only two seasons this glory was over and you found yourself with an almost new squad in the first division. The last two first division seasons were mainly tremendous games against relegation. On the other hand, the work of the board of directors was crowned with success. Presidium, which got the finances under control and reduced the deficit and were able to win a new president.

2009 - Handball Emmen

After the ordinary general assembly of ATV Emmenbrücke on May 22, 2009, a total of 135 members resigned from the ATVE handball team and were accepted by HC Emmenstrand by resolution of the board. The new statutes will be approved at the Extraordinary General Meeting on Friday, June 5, 2009. There is a new note in the statutes that the association emerges from the merger of members of the ATVE and the handball club Emmenstrand. Major changes concern the name, from the previous handball club Emmenstrand to the new handball Emmen. With the slogan “promote, challenge, fight”, the two traditional handball clubs have given the go-ahead for Handball Emmen, the second largest club in the Swiss handball landscape (behind GC / Amicitia Zurich, as of 2014). The club's first president is Bert Evers ( until 2013).
