Great Lakes (region)
The region of the Great Lakes (Engl. Great Lakes ) covers most of the Canadian province of Ontario and eight US states that the Great Lakes border. The central state is Michigan , which is separated into a north and south half by the lake of the same name and has shares in four of the five Great Lakes. Major ports on the Saint Lawrence Seaway in the Great Lakes region include Chicago , Detroit , Cleveland , Buffalo, and Toronto .

- Wisconsin : West shore of Lake Michigan and a small portion of Lake Superior (southwest)
- Michigan : Shares in Lake Superior, as well as Lakes Michigan , Huron and Erie
- Illinois : Southwest shore of Lake Michigan and Chicago as a major seaport
- Indiana : South Shore of Lake Michigan
- Ohio : southern state bordering Lake Erie
- Pennsylvania : Borders the southeast of Lake Erie
- New York : Eastern part of Lake Erie and the south and east banks of Lake Ontario
- Ontario : Bounded to the south by Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario
