Strategically located at the interface of the public, investors , donors, science, media and foreign organizations, the Chamber of Commerce bundles the interests of the Afghan economy.

With access to networks of global partners, it opens up new markets for Afghan products.

In 2007 the AICC and the ACCI merged to form a Chamber of Commerce. In 2009, the framework for a uniform structure for the Chamber of Commerce based in Kabul was created.

The ACCI is the leading voice in a dynamic, competitive and rapidly growing Afghan economy. To do justice to this task, services are provided and jobs are created.

To promote prosperity in Afghanistan, the ACCI works with local and international companies to create a conducive environment for the private sector.

Organizational profile

The ACCI is based in Kabul and has offices in 21 provinces of Afghanistan. In 2009 the membership was around 37,000 private sector organizations.

The ACCI is headed by an elected board that monitors the strategic direction of the organization. The chambers in the provinces are headed by their respective boards.

The ACCI has representative offices in Germany , the United States ( USA ), the Netherlands , the United Arab Emirates, Canada , Great Britain , Russia , Turkey and Kazakhstan . In order to bring Afghanistan closer to Europeans and to promote trade in Afghan products, Cornelia H. Lehmann has represented the Afghan Chamber of Commerce in Germany since 2007.

The role of the ACCI in the Afghan economy

An important part of the transition to economic independence in Afghanistan is to be created through public-private initiatives .

In order to strengthen domestic economic policy, relevant issues are discussed and solutions worked out at regular meetings of the ACCI with the President, the Afghan Cabinet and influential members of the economy. Direct and regular interaction with investors remains one of the most important tasks of the ACCI.

In the area of cross-border trade, the ACCI sees its tasks in the provision of trade documents and the development of market development strategies.

The gradual changeover to a less subsidized market economy in Afghanistan requires the commitment of private entrepreneurs. This applies above all to the following areas: production growth , productivity , education and employment.

Together with the Afghan government, the private sector and international partners, the ACCI is developing effective strategies to meet these challenges and to make Afghanistan economically more independent.
