The Koblenz Chamber of Crafts (HwK) is one of 53 chambers of crafts in Germany with its seat in Koblenz . With 19,500 member companies, it is the largest of the four Rhineland-Palatinate chambers of crafts.

history

The founding assembly of the Chamber of Crafts Koblenz was on April 18, 1900, in a town hall held in the city. The first two chairmen were the Koblenz master baker Anton Neidhöfer and, after his death, from 1902 to 1933 the Neuwied master roofer Heinrich Müller. Other board members were master painter Mrs. L. Reiniger (Bad Kreuznach), master locksmith M. Haubrich (Koblenz), master shoemaker W. Wagner (Wetzlar) and master carpenter G. Bier (Ahrweiler).

As a self-governing body of the economy, the Chamber of Crafts in Koblenz represents the interests of the craft towards politics, economy and administration.

The corporation under public law has the following tasks: regulation of vocational training, technical examinations, management of the role of craftsmen and apprentices and legal supervision of the craft guilds in the chamber district (cf. § 91 HwO). Member companies of the Koblenz Chamber of Crafts can take advantage of free advisory services on business, legal, technical and design issues. In addition, the Koblenz Chamber of Crafts offers individual, fee-based services in technical and commercial areas through its Service GmbH . In addition, partnership and qualification projects are being carried out in Southeast Europe, Southeast Asia and Africa.

The highest body and most important decision-maker of the Koblenz Chamber of Crafts is the plenary assembly with 48 honorary members. Two thirds of the members of the plenary assembly are self-employed craftsmen and one third are employees who represent the various trades and who are elected for a period of five years. The general assembly elects the president and the other board members, the management, the vocational training committee and other committees. It decides on the chamber budget, the amount of the contributions and fees, advises on fundamental questions of chamber policy, vocational training and the promotion of crafts and issues the examination regulations.

The board of the Chamber of Crafts is elected from the ranks of the general assembly. It consists of a total of nine members, two thirds of whom are self-employed craftsmen and one third are employees. At the top are the president and the two vice-presidents, one of whom comes from among the employees.
