Numa Marzocchi de Bellucci

Numa Marzocchi de Bellucci (* 1846 in Paris ; † 1930 Jaunay-Clan , Vienne department ) was a French orientalist painter .

Life

Numa Marzocchi de Bellucci was a son of the Italian painter Tito Marzocchi de Bellucci , from whom he also received his first artistic lessons. Through his mother he was largely related to the engineer Gustave Eiffel .

Marzocchi de Bellucci attended the École des Beaux-Arts in his hometown and became a student of Alexandre Cabanel, among others . with his support he was admitted to the major exhibition of the Salon de Paris in 1878 .

At the beginning of the war in 1870/71 he volunteered for the army. After the war he returned to Paris and settled as a freelance painter. He made several study trips, including to North Africa in 1876, in 1876 he married Alexandrine Lucile Esquier in Algiers and had six children with her.

From 1907 Marzocchi de Bellucci had a large studio in the 18th arrondissement (Rue Caulaincourt). After the First World War he retired to Jaunay-Clan, where he died in 1930 at the age of almost 85.
