Hangatyr is a Thuringian Pagan Metal - band from Bad Sulza . It is named after the Germanic god father Odin , who bears this code name when he hangs wounded on the world tree for nine nights .

history

Hangatyr was launched in spring 2006. With Silvio, Marco Sippel and Alexander Knorr, three of the four founders previously played together in the six-member black metal faction Schwarze Stille, which was active from 1997 to 2006 and had released two albums and a demo during this period. By autumn 2007 they had developed songs for the first demo CD Hangatyr , which was produced on their own. With Nocturnal Empire a label was found that supported Hangatyr from then on. Before the recordings for the first Helwege album could begin, the position on drums had to be filled. A committed drummer was quickly found in Michael, who was ready for recording in the studio after a short period of familiarization. At the end of February 2010 the debut album Helwege was released. The release concert took place on February 26, 2010 at From Hell in Erfurt , with the opening acts being Wandar, Krypta and Den Nordiske Sjel. After various concerts and festival appearances, the group returned to the studio in April 2012 together with producer Chrusto Balkowski (The Unholy Studio) to record elements for the second album . Since bassist Sippel had to limit his engagement for the band for professional reasons, Balkowski was also responsible for the bass recordings. In February 2013 Alexander Dietz ( Heaven Shall Burn , Chemical Burn Studios) gave the material the final sound in the form of a mastering. In order to maintain full control, the group decided to put elements into production themselves. Jan Wischkowski (Metal Promotions) and TWS were only involved for sales and promotion. The album was finally released on January 31st.
