Hanne Pollmann

Hanne Emilie Emma Pollmann (* 1937 in Berlin ) is a German women's rights activist .

Pollmann studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . As a lawyer and in her time as managing director of the German Women's Council , she campaigned for equality for women. Since 1967 she has been involved in local politics in Bonn . She is a co-founder of the local working group of social democratic women in the local association, of which she was chairman for many years. She was also a member of the Bonn City Council from 1988 to 1994. A key focus of her work there was to ensure that women's political issues were given attention and assertiveness.

From 1985 to 1999 she was the managing director of the German Women's Council, an association of 52 nationwide member associations. As managing director, she developed the German Women's Council into a non-partisan discussion platform. During her time as managing director, she organized the large Bonn demonstration "Women move the country" on March 5, 1994, in which, according to various estimates, 20,000 to 50,000 people took part. They demanded equality of work and family life, equal treatment of women and men at work, better social security and better sharing of power. During her term of office, she was also able to ensure that the German Women's Council obtained advisory status at the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations ( ECOSOC ).

On December 17, 1999, Pollmann received the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her professional and voluntary commitment . She is the mother of three children.
