Hanns Ketteler

Hanns Ketteler (born October 25, 1930 - April 3, 2009 ) was a German mining director.

Life

Hanns Ketteler was a mountain assessor and had worked his first shift in 1951. In 1961 he became a district climber at the Prosper II colliery . In 1968 he became assistant director and was involved in the construction of shaft 8 as the central shaft on Prosper II. With the transfer of the Prosper mine and the entire mining assets of the Arenberg Bergbau-GmbH in 1969 to the newly founded Ruhrkohle AG , Ketteler became mine director of Prosper II in 1970 he became director of the new Prosper-Haniel composite mine with over 4000 employees in the Prosper I (1/4/5), Prosper II (2/3/8), Prosper III (6/7), Prosper IV (shaft 9) , Arenberg continuation 1/2 , Jacobi 1/2, Franz Haniel 1/2, Möller 5 , and the Prosper coking plant . In 1976 he opened up the Bottrop-Kirchhellen mining area . From 1979 to 1993 he was chairman of the Prosper-Haniel company.

Ketteler is considered the "father" of the Förderberg , a worldwide unique conveyor system. On May 2, 1987 Pope John Paul II visited the Bottrop mine at the invitation of the Catholic Ketteler and met miners.

In 1992, Ketteler officially retired, but continued to be involved in the Berlin Treuhandanstalt am Aufbau Ost, especially in the environmental rehabilitation of the eastern German lignite mining areas.

In 1987, Ketteler was the initiator of Bottrop's town twinning with the Hungarian Veszprém . In 1974 he was the founding president of the Bottrop Lions Club .

In 1971, Hanns Ketteler was appointed by Cardinal Grand Master Eugène Cardinal Tisserant , the Cardinal Dean of the Catholic Church as a Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and invested in the Konstanz Minster on May 15, 1971 by Archbishop Lorenz Cardinal Jaeger , Grand Prior of the Order. Most recently he was an officer of the order.

He was married to Hermione geb. Meyborg.
