Hanns Simon (born July 19, 1908 in Bitburg ; † September 10, 1989 there ) was a German entrepreneur and brewer .

Life

Simon was born as the second son of the brewery owner Bertrand Simon (1882–1958) in Bitburg. After graduating from high school in 1927, he gained practical work experience at home and abroad. He then studied chemistry in Bonn and Freiburg and graduated in 1935 with a doctorate from the Institute for Fermentation Industry in Berlin.

He returned to the family's own brewery and, after his father retired, took over the management of the brewery together with the brothers. As a result, it developed into one of the largest private breweries in Germany. In 1975 he withdrew from the operative business and switched to the advisory board, later to the shareholders' committee and the supervisory board.

Simon founded the Bitburg cultural community in 1948 and the Dr. Hanns Simon Foundation in 1968 on the occasion of his 60th birthday .
