Hanns Teichmann

Hanns Friedrich Teichmann (born June 18, 1929 in Halle (Saale) ; † November 26, 2017 ) was a German civil engineer and university professor for urban water management and waste technology.

Life

Hanns Teichmann attended school in Dessau, Hanover and Leipzig. After graduating from high school, he first completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer. Then he went to study civil engineering at the Technical University of Hanover . In 1954 he became active in the Corps Ostfalia Hannover . He completed his studies as a Dipl.-Ing. from. In 1959 he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. PhD. After an initial brief professional activity in Hamburg, he went to the Erftverband , which was founded in 1958 , where he rose to the position of senior building director. From there in 1977 he was appointed full professor for urban water management at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . On September 17, 2009, a celebratory colloquium was held in Neubiberg on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

Teichmann researched in the fields of mechanical treatment of wastewater, anaerobic sludge digestion, landfilling of sludge and the identification and evaluation of odor emissions from sewage treatment plants. With regard to odor emissions from sewage treatment plants, he was also active as an expert. He wrote several articles in scientific compilations and manuals and numerous articles in scientific journals. He was a co-author of independent bibliographical books.

In the Abwassertechnische Vereinigung (ATV), today's German Association for Water Management, Wastewater and Waste (DWA), he was a member of the main committee for water protection and wastewater treatment , as chairman of the committee for aerobic biological wastewater treatment processes and of the working group for multi-stage biological sewage treatment plants . He was also a member of the advisory board of the ATV regional association.
