Hans Dietrich Genscher Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hans Dietrich Genscher Prize has been awarded by the Johanniter Unfall Hilfe eV since 1995 . Every two years it is awarded to people who have made a special contribution to emergency rescue or rescue medicine. Since 2005, a youth prize has also been awarded for special achievements by young people.

Even if the prize is awarded by the Lower Saxony / Bremen regional association , the group of recipients is not limited to these two federal states .

The award bears Genscher's name because, during his time as Federal Minister of the Interior , the politician was instrumental in establishing a nationwide air rescue system with rescue helicopters in Germany .
