Hans-Friedrich Neumeyer

Hans-Friedrich Neumeyer (born July 18, 1903 in Zurich ; † July 24, 1973 in Egloffstein ) was a German entrepreneur.

Hans-Friedrich Neumeyer was the son of Hedwig Husslein (1878-1933) and Fritz Ludwig Neumeyer (1875-1935), the founder of the motorcycle manufacturer Zündapp (Zünder-Apparatebau-Gesellschaft mbH). Hans-Friedrich Neumeyer married Margot Pemsel in 1933. Together they had a son, Dieter Neumeyer (1931–1989).

Entrepreneurship

Hans-Friedrich Neumeyer had been running Zündapp since 1931, before he and his sister Elisabeth became the owner and partner of the company in 1935 after the death of his father. The company continued to develop successfully, especially thanks to the engines designed by Richard Küchen , which showed a modern motorcycle design. By 1937, Zündapp was able to expand its market share to 17.9 percent.

During the Second World War , Neumeyer had a heavy two-cylinder machine with a sidecar drive and the Goliath small unmanned tank manufactured. In addition, Zündapp developed aircraft engines. After the end of the war, only milling and sewing machines were initially produced. In 1947 Neumeyer started building motorcycles again in Nuremberg and was able to build on old successes with new models (e.g. the Green Elephant ). But the motorcycle sales crisis in the mid-1950s and the requirement to have a driver's license for two-wheelers over 50 cm 3 caused problems for the company. The decline in sales could not be fully compensated for by the production of the Janus scooter and small motorcycles at the Munich plant. In 1958 Neumeyer had to sell the Nuremberg plant to Bosch and sell the sewing machine construction. At least it was possible to bring Zündapp back to the top of the German two-wheeler industry. In 1963 Hans-Friedrich Neumeyer's son Dieter took over the management of Zündapp.
