Hans-Georg Möller (* 13. June 1944 in Berlin , † 1980 ) was a German Boogie Woogie - pianist .

Life

Hans-Georg Möller was born in Berlin, but grew up in Hamburg. Here he played in various clubs and bars as early as the 1960s. Georg learned his first blues on the piano from his older brother, the clarinetist Claus-Jürgen Möller. During his professional training in London he discovered several jazz clubs in which he filled the breaks, delighted his listeners with his playing and impressed the other musicians. He had a considerable influence on the pianists Axel Zwingenberger , Martin Pyrker and Vince Weber . In 1976 he recorded his only album Boogie Woogie Session '76 with them live at the Wiener Konzerthaus . He also appeared on the program Spotlight together with the Zwingenberger brothers, Martin Pyrker, Günther Henzel, Marc Galpérin, Gottfried Böttger and Vince Weber. He also played with Fats Dominoes .

Not much is known about his later life. He was never a full-time musician, but ran his own company; he also played field hockey at a very high level. He died in 1980. His brother Claus-Jürgen Möller gives a motorcycle accident as the cause of death in an interview published on YouTube. His best known piece is George's Pinetop Boogie Woogie , based on Pinetop Smith . For this he was awarded the "German Boogie Woogie Award PINETOP" posthumously in 2013.
