Hans-Henning Adler (born December 12, 1949 in Göttingen ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). From 2008 to 2013 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament and from 2010 to 2013 chairman of the Left Party.

Life

Adler graduated from the Felix-Klein-Gymnasium in Göttingen in 1968 . He then studied law in Göttingen and Bonn . During his studies he was a member of the founding committee of the University of Oldenburg from 1970 to 1973 . In 1974 he passed the first state examination in law, followed two years later with the second state examination. Since 1976 he has been working as a lawyer in Oldenburg; as such, he represented people affected by the radical decree. He is the author of several magazine articles as well as a book. He is married and has three children.

politics

During his law studies Adler was a member of the SDS and the MSB Spartakus until 1970 . He was a member of the DKP until he left in 1989 . In 1990 he became a founding member of the PDS in Lower Saxony, of which he was state chairman for many years. For several years he was also a member of the Statute Commission of the PDS. Since 1996 he has been a member of the City Council of Oldenburg, where he is chairman of a four-person parliamentary group on the Left. From February 26, 2008, he was also a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament, where from 2010 he was chairman and legal policy spokesman for the state parliamentary group. He is also a member of the association assembly of the Oldenburgisch-Ostfriesischer Wasserverband (OOWV) and a member of the association assembly of the Sparkassenzweckverband.

After the left could not overcome the five percent hurdle in the state election in Lower Saxony in 2013 , Adler resigned from the state parliament.
