Hans-Jürgen Gerung (* 1960 ) is a German artist and composer .

Life

Gerung studied physics at the Technical University of Munich from 1983 to 1984, switched to the Leopold Mozart Conservatory in Augsburg in 1984 and studied guitar with Franz Mayr-Musiol and trumpet with Wolfgang Siegert. After graduating in 1988, a longer exam followed, which was devoted entirely to studying Bach's lute music; The aim was to develop a suitable guitar instrument for the faithful representation of the works on a modern clay tool. After numerous attempts a complete edition of BWV 995-1000 / BWV 1006a was created for a 10-string guitar of the new kind of tuning, which in the bass register quasi declined: G; F; C; D; E, A; d, g, h, e ' , for which the Johann Sebastian Bach Institute -Göttingen expressed its appreciation.

From 1994 to 1998 he studied the interpretation of new music with Christoph Jäggin (Switzerland). On his mediation, Gerung became a composition student of Hans Ulrich Lehmann .

In 1999 he introduced himself to Sylvano Bussotti and remained his student until 2005. Bussotti recommended him a. a. Mary de Rachewiltz and Fabio Boccagni received a scholarship from Tempo Reale di Merano at the Brunnenburg in Merano. Gerung wrote during his time in Brunnenburg a. a. the micro teatro Orfeo for the flutist Luisa Sello, the music for the sculpture park Faenza - al di fuori delle mappe by the sculptor Alessandra Bonoli for various speakers and guitar, the work for solo flute and ensemble of speakers tre Haiku on texts by Mary de Rachewiltz and the cycle for Vocal ensemble, solo guitar and speaker ensemble amoremorte , which became the basis of Marco Agostinelli's film of the same name. Agostinelli also used film scores from Gerung's La Commedia dell 'arte in his film Diario Novecento .

Sylvano Bussotti wrote the work Ermafrodito for guitar solo for Gerung in the summer of 1999, and in the same year there was a preliminary presentation at a conference at the Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini in Florence. In 2002 Luca Veggetti choreographed the score and, together with the Balletto Teatro di Torino, it was premiered on May 10th at the Teatro Carignano in Turin.

An international concert activity led u. a. on collaboration with artists such as Arturo Tamayo and the Orchester Philharmonique du Luxembourg , with the singers Sarah Leonhard, Ian Caley and Daniel Gloger , with the ensemble cantissimo under Markus Utz, the Schola Romana Ensemble and the Stadler Quartet. World premieres of his works were u. a. to be heard at the Contemporanea di Udine or the ECLAT Festival Stuttgart.

In an effort to bring together individual disciplines such as painting, graphics, artistic creation, dance and literature in new works, Gerung works as a freelance composer internationally with young artists.

In 2006 Gerung founded the international festival FORUM for NEUE MUSIK Oberstdorf. The communication of contemporary chamber music works to school students is the main concern of this series, which takes place annually in June / July.

Gerung lives with his family in the municipality of Rettenberg in the Allgäu.
