Hans-Jürgen Tode

Hans-Jürgen Tode (born December 23, 1957 in Rostock ) is a former German canoeist and canoe trainer.

Life

Tode took part in the 1976 Summer Olympics, in the two-man canoe he was fifth together with Detlef Bothe over the 1000-meter course, over 500 meters the two were eliminated in the semifinals.

Domestically, Tode was East German champion in the two-man canoe over 1000 meters in 1976 and third in 1977. In 1978, Tode, who was competing for SC Empor Rostock , became GDR champion in the single canoe over the 1000-meter and 500-meter course. In 1976 and 1980 he was each GDR champion in the two-man canoe over 500 meters.

Tode graduated from the German University of Physical Culture (DHfK) in 1984 with a diploma thesis on the subject of “Experiences and advice on the development of high-performance team boats in the Canadian area of ​​the DKSV of the GDR within the long-term development of performance”. As a trainer, he looked after other athletes as well as the Olympic champions Anke von Seck and Ramona Portwich . In 1994 he became the national coach of Denmark . Under his leadership, Danish athletes have won four world championships, among other things, and he finished his work in Denmark after the 2004 Summer Olympics .
