Hans-Joachim Schön (born November 18, 1955 ) is a former German football player who was active for the company sports association (BSG) Chemie Böhlen in 1978 in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

At the age of eight, Hans-Joachim Schön began to play organized football at Chemie Böhlen in 1964. In the 1972/73 season he played his first four games in the second-rate GDR league and came to another 19 GDR league games by 1977. When Chemie Böhlen rose to the GDR league in 1977, Schön was also involved in three of the eight promotion games. In the league season 1977/78 he stood as a defender in the squad of the first team, but was mainly called up in the junior league. Only at the end of the season he was used as a defender in two games in the GDR league. Without playing in the league again, Schön was drafted into the National People's Army for 18 months in November 1978 . After the end of his military service, he joined the GDR league club BSG Chemie Leipzig . During the 5th game day of the 1980/81 season, Schön was seriously injured, had to take a five-month break and so only made six league games by the end of the season. In 1981/82 he was used 18 times in the 22 point games played. He then moved to the Leipzig district league for BSG Stahl Nordwest Leipzig . With her he became district champion in 1983 and returned to the GDR league. There he was absent in the 1983/84 season only in one league game and scored four goals. Since the GDR league was reduced from five to two seasons for the 1984/85 season, seventh place was not enough for BSG Stahl to stay in the league. For the 30-year-old Schön, the career in high-class football was over. He had come to two league games, 68 GDR league games (six goals) and three promotion games within 13 years.
