Hans-Josef Gahr

Hans-Josef Gahr (born September 6, 1889 in Gonsenheim , † January 27, 1952 in Mainz ) was a German politician ( center , CDP / CDU ).

Life

Gahr attended the elementary school in Gonsenheim, the humanistic grammar school in Mainz and the teachers' college in Alzey. In 1911 he took the first and in 1913 the second exam for teachers. After that he was a school assistant and school administrator in Dietesheim, Viernheim, Froschhausen, Vilbel, Offenbach a. M., Dienheim and Ober-Ingelheim. 1914–1925 he was a teacher at the primary school Heusenstamm. In 1915/16 he did military service in World War I and suffered a serious head injury. 1925–1933 he taught at the primary school in Mainz. In 1924/25 he was a guest student at the University of Frankfurt am Main, and from 1926–1928 he studied at the Pedagogical Institute in Mainz at the TH Darmstadt.

After the seizure of power by the Nazis, he was dismissed in 1933 because of political unreliability from the Hessian government service. In 1935 he was returned to the school service as a severely disabled person. In 1945 he became acting director of the Mainz-Gonsenheim elementary school and in 1946 rector.

In 1911 he became a member of the Catholic Teachers Association and in 1917 a member of the center. From 1928 he was the honorary state secretary of the center in Hesse. In 1927 he joined the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold . In 1932 he was elected to the city council in Mainz for the center. In the time of National Socialism he could not continue his political activity. 1935–1942 he was a member of the NSV and 1936–1942 a member of the NSLB (he was excluded for failure to pay contributions). On February 4, 1946, the test result of the ZSK in Neustadt was: Leave in service.

After the Second World War he joined the CDP , from which the Rhineland-Palatinate state association of the CDU later emerged. For this he was a member of the advisory state assembly in 1946/47 .
