Hans-Peter Haupt

Hans-Peter Haupt (born April 10, 1967 in Wesseling ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 2009 to 2014 he was full-time mayor of the city of Wesseling in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein-Erft district .

Life

After completing the technical college entrance qualification at the Albert Einstein Realschule Wesseling , Haupt learned the radio and television technician trade. He completed his apprenticeship with the journeyman's examination and was then trained as a graduate engineer in communications technology. In a distance learning course he continued his education and obtained a degree as a certified IT business engineer . For ten years he worked as a salaried project manager until he finally became a freelance business consultant .

In 1989 Haupt joined the Junge Union and in 1993 finally became a member of the CDU. In 1994 he became a knowledgeable citizen in the Wesselingen city council and in 1999 he became a council member and chairman of the local youth welfare committee. He was also chairman of the local city association of his party between 2007 and 2013.

In 2009, Haupt was elected mayor of his hometown for six years in the first ballot with 34.4 percent of the vote against three other opposing candidates. After almost five years in office, however, he decided to again face the vote in the 2014 local elections. When made necessary ballot but he lost to his opponent from the SPD , the municipal councilor Erwin Esser , with 46.2 percent of the vote.

Haupt has been a lecturer in the Faculty of Information, Media and Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Cologne since 2016 .
