Hans-Peter Welz

Hans-Peter Welz (born January 8, 1976 in Kufstein , Tyrol , Austria ) is an Austrian bobsleigh pusher and former athlete .

Hans-Peter Welz has been an active athlete since 1993, primarily a sprinter over 100 and 200 meters, and in 2005 he took over the post of pusher for Austrian bobsleigh pilot Wolfgang Stampfer .

The Kufsteiner is a multiple Tyrolean champion in the 100, 200, 400, 4 x 100 meter relay and in the long jump, as well as a two-time national champion over 200 meters. His best time is 10.51 s over 100 meters and 21.02 s over 200 meters.

The best placings were a seventh place at the IAAF World Indoor Championships Maebashi 1999 in the 4 x 400 meter relay and a twelfth place at the U23 European Championships over 200 meters. Welz had several European Cup appearances over 100, 200 and 4 times 100 meters.

His best placings in the Bobsleigh World Cup were sixth in Altenberg 2000 in the four-man bobsleigh and several other top 10 placements, as well as a 13th place at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, also in the four-man bobsleigh.

Welz works as an insurance agent for Tiroler Versicherung and has a daughter.
