Hans-Werner Bertl

Hans-Werner Bertl (born July 2, 1944 in Wuppertal ) is a German politician. From 1994 to 2005 he was a member of the German Bundestag for three electoral terms . It was for the Social Democratic Party (SPD) in 1994 and 1998 in the constituency Solingen-Remscheid and 2002 constituency Solingen-Remscheid-Wuppertal II each directly elected.

Life

Bertl attended elementary school and then attended a vocational school. He then trained as a watchmaker and after graduation worked as a restorer. He trained to become a master watchmaker and studied business administration. After completing his advanced training as a business administrator, he became a career advisor and finally a state-certified business economist. After completing his professional training, he was employed as a career advisor at the Federal Employment Agency. Most recently he was responsible for the cities of Mettmann, Haan, Erkrath and Hochdahl at the employment office in Düsseldorf. He joined the public services, transport and traffic union (today ver.di ) and was a member of the advisory boards of various companies.

Bertl became a member of the SPD in 1972. At first he was a member of the youth organization Socialist Youth in Germany - Die Falken and from 1978 to 1980 a member of the board of the Young Socialists in Solingen. At the same time he was from 1979 to 1981 also a member of the board of the SPD Solingen and from 1979 to 1989 also for the SPD in the council of the city of Solingen. In 1981 he became deputy chairman and in 1983 chairman of the SPD in Solingen. In the federal election in 1994 he was elected to the German Bundestag through a direct mandate from the constituency of Solingen - Remscheid . He became a full member of the Committee for Spatial Planning, Building and Urban Development and the Committee for Education, Science, Research, Technology and Technology Assessment. He was also on the Defense Committee from January 1998. He could be re-elected in the 1998 Bundestag election. In both legislative terms he was a full member of the Committee on Affairs of the European Union. From 1998 to 2002 he was also active in the Committee for Education, Research and Technology Assessment.
