Hans Balmer (* 1903 ; † 1996 ) was a Swiss organist and pianist . He was employed in his hometown of Basel in the churches of St. Martin and St. Leonhard .
Balmer maintained close contact with well-known composers of his time, including a. with Willy Burkhard , whom he commissioned in 1938 to compose the sonatina for organ (op. 52).
The Basler Organistenverband has awarded the Hans Balmer Prize for the promotion of young organists since 2001; In 2004 the Hans-Balmer-Stiftung was established in Balmer's honor, which was made possible by a legacy from his wife Alice Balmer-von Tscharner.
