Hans Batteux

Hans Batteux (* 1885 ; † November 24, 1961 in Illertissen ) was a German opera singer (tenor).

Life

Batteux was trained at the Cologne Conservatory. He made his stage debut as a lyric tenor in 1911 at the Strasbourg City Theater. There he stayed until 1913. He then worked at the Stadttheater Essen from 1913 to 1915, from 1915 to 1916 at the Opernhaus Breslau, from 1916 to 1917 at the Stadttheater von Magdeburg, from 1917 to 1920 again in Breslau and from 1921 to 1925 at the Berlin State Opera . He then worked as a guest from Berlin until 1929. In 1929 he was employed as a director and singer at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven and from 1930 to 1933 he was senior director at the Stadttheater von Münster (Westphalia).

He was then senior director at the German Opera House in Berlin from 1935 to 1945 and was then retired.

Before that, he had performed for several years with his wife Elise von Catopol (1887–1941) in Breslau and at the Lindenoper in Berlin. Batteux was awarded the title of chamber singer .
