Curtis Fowlkes (born March 19, 1951 in New York City ) is an American jazz musician (trombone, vocals, composition). He is a co-founder of the Jazz Passengers .

Live and act

Fowlkes became a professional musician in 1977 after an offer from Ernie Wilkins . He met the saxophonist Roy Nathanson for the first time during performances by the Big Apple Circus Band , with whom he has worked regularly ever since. Both belonged to John Lurie's band The Lounge Lizards between 1984 and 1989 . In 1987 they founded Jazz Passengers with other musicians from the downtown scene . In addition, Fowlkes worked with Thomas Chapin , Art Blakey , Gunter Hampel , Henry Threadgill , Bill Frisell , Marc Ribot and Charlie Hunter . He also toured several times with Charlie Haden and his Liberation Music Orchestra and with Bill Frisell. He was also a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, revived by Louie Bellson . In 2001 he went on tour with his group Catfish Corner and to the record studio (CD "Reflect"). He has also played with John Zorn , Andy Summers, and Sheryl Crow . In 2013 he accompanied Glen Hansard in Germany.
