Hans Conrad Schellenberg

Hans Conrad Schellenberg (born April 28, 1872 in Hottingen ( Switzerland ), † October 27, 1923 in Zurich ) was a Swiss agricultural scientist.

Schellenberg, son of a farmer, studied at the Department of Agriculture at ETH Zurich from 1890 and went to the University of Berlin in 1893 , where he dealt with botanical questions. In 1895 he received his doctorate degree from ETH Zurich with a thesis on lignified cell membranes. phil. PhD. He then worked as an assistant at the semen control station in Zurich until 1897, then for five years as a teacher at an agricultural school in his home canton. In 1901 he qualified as a professor at the ETH Zurich in botany. Since 1903 he had a teaching position for plant pathology and viticulture. From 1908 until his death he was full professor for crop production at the Department of Agriculture at ETH Zurich.

Schellenberg's main research areas were agricultural botany and plant pathology. He published important articles on fungal plant diseases. He was co-author of a multiple published book on fertilizer theory.
