Hans Füchsel

Hans (Johannes) Füchsel (born November 20, 1878 in Dorndorf , † March 2, 1944 ) was a German librarian.

Life

Füchsel studied Romance and German philology and received his doctorate in Munich in 1901. In 1902 he began as a trainee at the Greifswald University Library . After completing his training in 1904, he became an assistant there, and in the same year he moved to the Berlin State Library . Also in 1904 he was given leave to go to the library of the Reichstag, in 1905 he was given another leave of absence to work at the library of the Technical University of Danzig. In 1907 he moved from the Berlin State Library to the Göttingen University Library , where he became deputy director in 1929. Here he created the guidelines for the Göttingen keyword catalog. He also dealt with problems of business distribution, the course of business and the job description of the librarian in numerous magazine articles.
