Hans Günther Moes

Hans Günther Moes (born February 7, 1886 in Breslau ; † April 16, 1966 in Düsseldorf ) was a German administrative officer and dahlia grower .

Life

Hans Günther Moes was the son of a manufacturer. His grandfather was Christian August (1810–1872), his great uncle Friedrich Karl Moes (1808–1863) and his brother was Richard Moes (1887–1968).

He studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1905 he became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Heidelberg . After graduating, he entered the Prussian civil service. In 1913 he passed the government assessor exam with the government in Opole . From 1920 to March 31, 1931, when he was transferred into temporary retirement, he was District Administrator of the district Guben .

For many years Moes was President of the German Dahlia, Fuchsia and Gladiolus Society (DDFGG). On the occasion of his 80th birthday, a primeval sequoia tree was planted in the dahlia garden in Bad Neuenahr on February 7, 1966. Shortly afterwards, on April 16, 1966, he suddenly died in Düsseldorf at the age of 81. The DDFGG awards the President Moes Memorial Prize for the best German dahlia.
