Hans Gallizian
Hans Gallizian (* 1472 in Basel ; † 1524 in Solothurn ) was a Basel entrepreneur and councilor .
Life
Like his father Michel and his uncle Anton Gallizian, Hans Gallizian was a paper manufacturer (the Gallizian mill is now the main building of the paper museum ) and also worked as a wholesale merchant. From 1515–1521 he was a guild master for Safran on the Small Council , where he was appointed to the Siebnerrat (financial authority). Because of the acceptance of pensions he was expelled from the council in 1521 in the so-called pension storm. He then moved to Solothurn , from where he agitated against Basel. His goods in Basel were confiscated and publicly auctioned.
