Hans Hafner (politician)

Hans Hafner (born November 3, 1938 in Graz ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and Chamber Director. Hafner was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1975 to 1996 .

Hafner attended the commercial academy in Graz after compulsory school and completed his schooling in 1956 with the Matura. Then he studied from 1958 to 1962 at the University of Graz and received his doctorate in 1962 for Dr. iur. In addition, he worked from 1956 to 1958 as an insurance employee, in 1969 he took over the position of chamber director of the Styrian Chamber for workers and employees in agriculture and forestry.

Hafner was already active as a student representative of the Catholic University Youth during his studies, and between 1971 and 1977 he was also the district chairman of the ÖAAB . In 1973 he was elected district party chairman of the ÖVP Graz- Geidorf and represented the ÖVP in the National Council between November 4, 1975 and January 14, 1996. In addition, he worked from 1972 as chairman of the Styrian Family Association and from 1978 as chairman of the Styrian welfare service .
